Membership Drive

200 Members = Store Equipment Funded!

Tuesday, Sept. 2nd, we officially launched our membership drive at the CG Community Center. We now have 79 members and counting!

Reaching this goal will allow us to purchase the new equipment needed for our opening at the end of the year. Our key upgrades include a point-of-sale system designed specifically for food co-ops, along with essential freezers, fridges, shelves, and carts.

Become a member of Blackberry Food Cooperative today and support the purchase of new equipment to help us open the co-op!

Why a Cooperative?

Food co-ops are owned and governed by their members. That means decisions are made right here, by the people who care most about our community. Together, we can create access to healthy, affordable, and locally-sourced food while supporting farmers and producers close to home.

Be part of history. Become a founding member today.

Scott Burgwin, the owner of Coast Fork Farm Stand, plans to retire at end of 2025. The community has come together to continue the CFFS mission of providing local goods to Cottage Grove as a community-owned food cooperative grocery store.

Joining today means helping ensure Cottage Grove continues to have a locally-owned, organic food source tomorrow.

Help us build a store—and a movement—that belongs to all of us. We need 200 member to launch!

What is a Food Cooperative?

A food co-op is a grocery store that’s owned and governed by its members. Members invest in the co-op with a one-time fee, get a voice in major decisions, and share in the success.

Our History

We’re transforming The Coast Fork Farm Stand into Blackberry Food Co-op, a member-owned grocery store that will keep this vital resource open for generations to come.

At a public meeting in April 2024, Scott Burgwin, owner of the Coast Fork Farm Stand, announced his vision to transform CFFS into a food cooperative. That vision sparked action.

A group of committed community members stepped forward to form Blackberry Food Cooperative. This new chapter will build on the legacy of Scott's store and transform it into a member owned and community-led grocery store.

The co-op is now seeking members to build the foundation necessary to complete the transition of the market to community ownership.
